The Colony Club of Ocean City hosts the following programs to support our community:
Spelling Bee
As part of the NJSFWC* we sponsor and organize a spelling bee for fifth graders at the Ocean City Intermediate School. The top three winners get gift certificates and the opportunity to advance to the Southern District Spelling Bee. The winners of the district spelling bee go to the NJSFWC Headquarters in New Brunswick, NJ for the State Spelling Bee.
OCNJ Block Party
We participate in OCNJ Block Parties. We staff a table selling bottled water. The monies are donated to a non-profit. Also at this time, we share information regarding our organization.
Tree of Warmth
In conjunction with the Ocean City Free Library, we set up a Holiday Tree used to collect hats, gloves, scarves, etc. for the local Clothes Closet. The community is invited to decorate the tree with the winter items.
Clean The Beach
We have adopted the 16th Street beach. As part of the Clean Ocean Action Beach Sweep, we clean the beach twice a year.
MLK Day of Service
Members provide homemade and other treats which are gathered and divided for the three fire stations and police department. Members deliver the treats.
OCNJ Welcome Night
We participate in the city-wide Welcome Night. Welcome Night is a city sponsored event showcasing the different organizations Ocean City has to offer. Colony Club staffs a table ready to answer any questions about our organization.
Wreaths Across America
Members purchase wreaths and participate in the ceremony to place them on the graves at the Gerald M. Thornton Veterans Cemetery of Cape May County.
